Army celebrates Tithwal day

On the occasion of Tithwal day a gala event was organized by Shakti Vijay Brigade at Tithwal, Tangdhar on Monday, an Army spokesman said.

'Tithwal Day' is celebrated every year to commemorate liberation of Tangdhar  Valley  from Pakistan. The battle saw two soldiers being awarded India's highest gallantry award Param Veer Chakra (PVC) posthumously. Tithwal is one of the several Model Villages in Border area adopted by Army. The celebration of Tithwal Day is an annual ritual in Tangdhar bowl.  The grand celebration this year spanned over ten days, in which several sports and social events to include cricket, quiz, volleyball and cultural competitions etc were organised.  This year also over 1500 local from Tangdhar Valley attended the function," he added.
