Army chief reviews security situation along LoC in Kashmir

Army chief GeneralM M Naravane reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control in theKashmir Valley on Friday, a defence spokesperson said here.

On the second dayof his two-day visit to the valley, Naravane reviewed the security situationalong the LOC, including counter-infiltration measures, said Colonel RajeshKalia.

   

He said the Armychief, accompanied by the Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Y K Joshi and ChinarCorps Commander Lt Gen B S Raju, visited the formations and units.

The localCommanders briefed Naravane on the existing security situation and the measuresin place to foil infiltration bids by militants, Kalia said.

The Chief of ArmyStaff was briefed on the cease fire violations, retaliations, counterinfiltration operations and operational preparedness, he said.

During aninteraction with the soldiers on snow clad heights, the Army chief wasappreciative of their sharp vigil and alertness, Kalia added.

Naravane alsoimpressed upon the commanders to remain prepared to give a befitting reply toany misadventure from across the LOC, he said.
