Army on Wednesday said that it distributed blankets, suitcases, leather bags, sports and canvas shoes, sweat shirts and others items among the residents at Vilgam army camp.
In a statement Army spokesman said that “the aim of the event was to reassure the local populace that the Army is committed to the welfare of the people.
The event was a huge success in which approx 1000 people from all age groups including Gujjars/Bakarwals from far flung areas, ex-servicemen, war widows, Sarpanchs and other local people participated and benefitted from the initiative.”
He said that the initiative was made possible with the help from ‘Uday Foundation’ NGO that provided the items for this function.
“On the occasion, Brigadier DR Rai along with other civil dignitaries addressed the gathering,” he added.
