Army organise recruitment rally for porters

Army on Wednesday said that it organised a recruitment rally for raising of 198 Army porter company, for 600 porters at Uri in north Kashmir last week.

 An Army spokesman ina statement said that the rally was conducted at Dagger Sports Node, in frontof Army Goodwill School, Uri, on March 30 & 31 2019, by the Army at Uriunder the aegis of Kalapahar Brigade.

   

“Wide publicity for the event was given through-print and social media (both Urdu and English), Defence Labour Procurement Officer (DLPO), Tehsildar, Uri and District Collector, Baramulla.

This ensured that all local persons desirous of serving the nation in earnest would be afforded an opportunity to do so.

Consequently a large number of aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir, including the locals of Uri and adjoining areas, participated in the rally, to enroll as porters. A total of 2760 aspirants came forth and the recruitment was carried out over two days to select the porters.

This endeavour by the Army is to provide job opportunities to the local populace, as well as select porters to aid the Army in its logistics in the Kalapahar Brigade area,” the spokesman added.
