Army pay tributes to slain soldier

Army on Saturday paid tributes to late Paratrooper Karamjeet Singh, who was killed during an anti-militancy operation in Shopian district on Friday.

In a statement here Army’s Srinagar based spokesman said, “Ina solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, Chinar Corps Commander andall ranks paid homage to the deceased soldier on behalf of a proud nation. In ashow of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined into pay their last respects to the late paratrooper.”

   

He said, “the deceased had sustained a bullet injury whilehe was de-inducting from the operation site at Yarwan forest in Shopiandistrict. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 BaseHospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.”

Karamjeet Singh, was 22 years old and had joined the Army in2015. He belonged to village Hafizabad of Chamkaur tehsil in districtRoopnagar, Punjab and is survived by his mother and two sisters, the spokesmansaid, adding that the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family andremains committed to their dignity and wellbeing.
