Army today paid tributes to the two soldiers in a ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantt here, who lost their lives when an Army convoy was ambushed by militants in Baramulla.

Army today paid tributes to the two soldiers in a ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantt here, who lost their lives when an Army convoy was ambushed by militants in Baramulla. 

Lt Gen Satish Dua, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the slain duo.

According to a defence spokesman, NK Shakti, 29, had joined army at the age of 18 years. "He was a skilled Hockey player hailing from Chatra, Jharkhand and is survived by his wife and a son," the spokesman said.

"Sep Joy Jit Ghosh, 32, had joined the army at an age of 20 years. He was an ardent Football player and represented Army Service Corps Central team. He was hailing from 24 Parganas North, West Bengal and is survived by his wife and a baby girl," the spokesman said, adding that the mortal remains of the slain duo will be flown for last rites to their native places where they will be laid to rest with full military honours.
