The students of Degree College Pulwama on Wednesday staged protests after an army vehicle entered into the premises of the college.
Witnesses said that the students pelted stones on the army vehicle, forcing it to leave the premises.
They said that the protesting students shouted pro-freedom slogans.
SSP Pulwama Rayees Bhat said that army men had visited the college for a meeting with the college administration.The college administration was not available for comments.
Army spokesperson Rajesh Kalia said "actually army wanted to hold a painting, drawing competition in the college. In this regard the concerned Army officer had sought appointment of the principal who had allowed them. But as the army entered into the college premises, students pelted stones. The army exercised maximum restraint and went away as they were students who were pelting stones."
CLASHES IN TAHAB
Amid a complete shutdown, clashes erupted in Tahab area today. Reports said that Tahab area witnessed complete shutdown after a women died allegedly due to suffocation yesterday during clashes. In afternoon, today clashes erupted in the village between CRPF and youth,resulting injuries to two youths. Scores of vehicles also got damaged during the clashes.
