Joint resistance leadership has called shutdown on Tuesday in Shopian and its surrounding areas against rape and murder of Asiya and Nilofar.
Remembering the gruesome crime, the JRL said that Asiya and Nilofar were abducted, gang-raped and then mercilessly killed by the forces.
“In remembrance of the double murder and rape case of Asiya and Nilofar a shutdown has been called on 29 May in the district,” the JRL said adding that instead of taking strict action against those involved in the crime, the perpetrators exonerated.
“No FIR was lodged and criminals are being shielded by authorities”, the JRL said. “United Nations War Crimes Tribunal should hold accountable all the army personnel involved in this heart wrenching incident”.
The JRL demanded impartial investigation by some independent institution into all the gang-rape incidents in the state.
