Azad seeks magisterial probe into killing of Bhadarwah resident

Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha and General SecretaryAICC Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday sought a magisterial inquiry into the killinga middle aged man allegedly by cow vigilantes in Bhadarwah area late Wednesdaynight.

"I have asked the Deputy Commissioner to initiate amagisterial inquiry into the incident," Azad said in a statement.

He said that those responsible for this gruesome murder mustbe brought to book immediately and punished as per the law of the land.

Azad also appealed to all to maintain peace, mutual trustand tranquility.

"Some miscreants will always try to spoil the peacefulatmosphere and communal harmony of the town in particular and the district ingeneral. It is the responsibility of each one of us to ensure peace and maintaincommunal harmony at every cost." Azad said.

Nayeem Ahmad Shah (50) was shot and killed and anotherinjured by alleged vigilantes over allegations of smuggling cows.

Reports said a group of vigilantes intercepted the twoMuslims in the outskirts of Bhaderwah town before dawn and shot at them afteran altercation. 50-year-old Shahn died while another man was injured.

The killing has triggered widespread protests and outrage inBhadarwah, forcing the administration to impose curfew in the picturesque town.
