Baramulla college organises Urdu competition

The department of Urdu, women’s college Baramulla, organised an inter college competition on Thursday. Ten colleges of Kashmir participated in the event.

Degree college for women Baramulla bagged the first positionwhile Govt degree college Hadipora bagged the second position and thirdposition was bagged by Lal Ded team of women’s college Baramulla.

   

The Dr Mushtaq Haider, faculty of the Department of Urdu,University of Kashmir, in his talk highlighted the ‘Importance of Poetry in theContemporary World’.

Prof Shafiqa Parveen, former Director, Directorate ofDistance Education and Chief Guest on the occasion, lauded the efforts of theorganizers and encouraged all stakeholders in the academia to ensure theconservation of our rich cultural heritage by way of preserving and promotingUrdu language. 

Prof Abdul Rashid Khan, former HoD Urdu, Govt. DegreeCollege Beerwah and Dr Sayed Anayat Geelani, faculty at Women’s College Soporealso enlightened the audience with their words of wisdom.

Prof Fahmeeda Bano, Principal of the college, in herpresidential remarks expressed satisfaction over the engaging performance ofthe participating teams and organizers. She reiterated her pledge to promotelanguages in general and Urdu language in particular.
