Baramulla police organise seminar on ‘child abuse’

Baramulla police Saturday organised a seminar on ‘child abuse’ at degree college Pattan. 

Raja Majid, DSP, Najam-un-Nissa SDPO Pattan and the prosecuting officer J&K Police gave detailed presentations on the subject.

   

The event was aimed to spread awareness about the subject, especially with regard to legal remedies available to victims and their families. 

The speakers said that most of such incidents go unreported because of the “social stigmas” attached to it. 

The SDPO Pattan said it is a social obligation to take serious note of child abuse. The prosecuting officer Pattan shed light on the laws that can be taken recourse to by the victims to prosecute the offenders.

On this occasion, tehsildar Pattan Syed Faheem and principal of the college Sheikh Aijaz asked the students to become agents for social change and asked them to come forward to educate the people about such important social deviation.
