Baramulla youth develop decontamination tunnel

A group of youth here have developed a decontamination tunnel and installed it at entrance of their colony to ensure that every person entering it gets disinfected.

The youth from Sheikhul Alam Colony, Gulnar Park have sealedthe locality to ensure the corona infection does not spread the area.

   

In case of any emergency or need to procure essentials,people will have to mandatorily pass through the tunnel while leaving orentering the colony, said Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, the brain behind the tunnel.

Another youth, Muzaffar Nabi said the aim was to providesense of security to the people. “Though it is extremely important to stay homewhen lockdown is in place, however, there is some time need or emergency, inthat case the disinfecting tunnel can be of great help,” he said.

“We have been urging people to stay indoors and maintainsocial distancing,” said another youth, Muzaffar Nabi.

Having masters in electronics and communication Dar and hisfriend Nabi took the initiative of developing the tunnel by arranging toolslocally.

“We purchased all toolrequired locally. Be it motor, nozzle, motion detecting sensor or iron bars.While for disinfectants, we were helped by a dermatologist, Dr Amjad” saidIshfaq Ahmad. Dr Amjad said the passion of the volunteers madethe task of developing the tunnel a reality. “The tunnel is now operational andbenefits locals” said Dr Amjad.
