A bear strayed into a residential area in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Thursday causing panic among the locals.
According to locals, the bear has been on the prowl in the Wasia area of the district for the last few days and had attacked several cattle.
However, an official of the wildlife department told news agency GNS that the bear has been captured. "We received several complaints from locals about the presence of a bear. The wild animal had also attacked cattle," the official said.
This was the sixth such catch in Kupwara district this year.
