Seniors Peoples Democratic Party leader Rouf Bhat on Sunday criticized the government for extension of Public safety Act (PSA) on former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.
“It is unfortunate to see an elected leader in jail justbecause she stood for aspirations of people of J&K,” Bhat said, in astatement.
Hesaid BJP government can never change the demography of J&K even afterabrogation of Article 370 or bifurcation of the erstwhile state of J&K intotwo Union territories.
Describing Mehbooba, the PDP President, as a “brave woman,”Bhat said the government cannot break her resolve by jailing her.
He said it was very unfortunate that a “vindictive approach”was being adopted against the political leadership of Jammu and Kashmir,especially against the PDP President.
He demanded immediaterelease of the party President while appealing civil society, politicians,human rights activists and pro democracy institutions to raise voice for therelease of the incarcerated political leaders and activists of Jammu andKashmir. KNS
