Bhat dismayed over ‘poor’ health facilities in govt hospitals

Senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat has expressed dismay over the “inability” of the Health Department to meet the demand of dialysis facility at district and sub-district hospitals.

Bhat said the SDH Bandipore offers an example of “abysmalfailure” of the department where funds were made available for the machineslong before and reportedly the machines lie unused at the hospital.

He said it is known fact that patients facing nephrologyproblems are on rise in Kashmir and need for dialysis facility at shorterdistances is an imperative for any responsible health caring system.

Bhat said diabetic patients from rural areas, especiallyfrom backward belts like Bandipore are denied easily accessible and financiallyaffordable treatment facilities.

“There are instances where patients have died withoutreaching hospitals at distance or bear with pain and anxiety for want ofrequired finances.”

Bhat urged Governor administration to accord priority toproviding such facilities in rural areas at easily accessible places, moreimportantly at district and sub district hospitals. He said the swell in number of cancer patientsand inadequate capacity to accommodate the rush at city centers needs to betaken into account for redressal.
