BJP out to destroy democracy’s fourth pillar: PDP

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday termed action against the BJP by the District Administration led Leh, ‘appreciable’, stating that such actions play a vital role in restoring people’s faith in the institutions of democracy and fair play.

In a statement issued here, senior PDP leader and formerminister Naeem Akhtar said that it is now established that the BJP has”destroyed the institutions” all across and is busy trying to do that every daysans any remorse.

   

However, Akhtar said, the stiff resistance by the localmedia in Ladakh to such undemocratic measures of the BJP is worth to hail andit has made every law abiding and peace loving citizen of the state proud.

Akhtar said that it was the BJP that introduced money duringthe municipal, Panchayat and recently held parliament polls in Jammu andKashmir. “But the BJP met resistance in the state where they wanted to capturepublic opinion by use of money. The people here in union have told the saffronbridge that they are not available for this,” Akhtar said.

Meanwhile, another PDP leader Ved Mahajan Wednesday slammedthe BJP over “trying to bribe scribes during Ladakh polls”, stating that “afterdemolishing country’s vital institutions, the party is out to destroydemocracy’s fourth pillar.”

In a statement issued here, Mahajan said that such actionsby the BJP “reflect party’s mindset towards the vital and importantinstitutions of democracy and how the party is out to defame and destroy one ofthe honest and sincere professions of the world.”
