BMO Pattan attached for ‘violating’ MCC, ‘embezzling’ public money

The Block Medical Officer Pattan has been attached for allegedly violating the model code of conduct during the recent election process for the Baramulla parliamentary constituency.

The official has been attached following two complaintsagainst him before the election commission of India alleging that the official”has violated the MCC besides embezzling hospital development fund.”

   

Soon after the complaint was received, “the districtelection officer Baramulla asked the chief medical officer Baramulla toinitiate an enquiry against the said official.

“Following the district election officer Baramulla’scommunication, the chief medical officer Baramulla ordered attachment of theBMO Pattan and constituted a six member committee to inquire in to theallegations,” sources said.

“In response to the district election officer Baramullaletter dated 27-04-2019 regarding the complaint against Dr Masrat Iqbal Wani,BMO Pattan of violating model code of conduct and illegally withdrawing hugeamount from hospital development fund, the BMO Pattan is hereby attached withBlock Medical Officer Rohama and shall be deemed to have been relieved fromBlock Pattan,” reads the order of CMO dated 27-4-2019.

Sources said that action has been taken after PDP candidatefor Baramulla parliamentary constituency, Abdul Qayoom Wani lodged a complaintbefore the chief election commission of India alleging that the official is”violating model code of conduct by involving himself and the subordinate staffin favour of J&K People’s Conference and J&K National Conferencecandidate for Baramulla parliamentary constituency, thereby using officialmachinery and support to influence voters”.

The complainant in his complaint has also named four otherofficials of Bandipora district and has levelled same charges against them,sources said.
