The dead body of a missing driver from Gund area of Kangan in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district has been found in a forest area of Nowshera tehsil in Rajouri district, police said.
A police official said the dead body of the driver Tariq Ahmed Tantray son of Muhammad Afzal Tantray resident of Gund was found from a forest area of Nowshera in Rajouri district.
The deceased was missing from last 18 days and the family members accompanied by the police teams from Kangan and Rajouri were searching for him for the last two weeks.
The police official said that one person Aftab Ahmed a resident of Rajouri who was held earlier as a main suspect has confessed the crime and has been arrested.
"We are investigating the case and anyone found involved in the crime will be dealt strictly under law," the official added.
He said that police has got some clues in this regard adding that the search was being conducted under the close supervision of SSP Ganderbal and SDPO Kangan with the assistance of Rajouri police.
Meanwhile, protests erupted in Gund town and its adjoining areas after the news about the death of the missing driver spread.
All the shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the road.
