A 45-year-old bookseller of Rafiabad in north Kashmir's Baramulla district was shot dead by unknown gunmen late Friday, police said.
The bookseller identified as Fayaz Ahmed Rather son of Muhammad Ramzan of Saidpora in Rafiabad was shot dead outside his residence.
Witnesses said at 8:15 pm unknown gunmen barged into Fayaz's house and showered volley of bullets on him.
District President of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Wali Muhammad Shah said that the deceased was an active member of TeH. Sajad Ahmed, brother of slain Fayaz, said that two masked gun men had entered into their house and opened fire on his brother. "We were not present in the house. We demand stern action against the killers," Sajad said.
Meanwhile, thousands of people amid pro-freedom slogans participated in the Nimaz-e-Jinaza of the deceased.
