Sanitation workers of Municipal Committee Budgam Saturday staged a protest at press enclave here in favour of their demands.
“We are discharging ourduties with honesty and dedication in order to maintain the environment cleanand green. But unfortunately some Jamadars are misbehaving with us and usingabusive language,” said Mohammad Rafiq, a protestor.
“We are being disrespectedby the jamadars,” said another protester. The protesters alleged the higherofficials were treating them as “slaves”.
The protesters threatenedto strike work if their grievances are not addressed. “Since we are doing ourwork to the satisfaction of our superiors, there is no occasion for anyone tomisbehave with us or create difficulties for us.” Meanwhile, they requested thehigher authorities to take appropriate note of their grievance and take strictaction against the officials who are misbehaving with them.
