Budgam teen’s body fished out from stream a day after drowning

Budgam June 10: District Police Budgam along with SDRF and River Police Srinagar on Thursday retrieved the body of a teenager from Arigam village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district from a stream a day after he drowned into it.

Irfan Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, a local from Arigam had drowned into the stream after which police along with locals launched a search operation.

   

A team from SDRF and River Police also joined in the efforts to trace the youth’s body.

A police spokesperson said this afternoon that after strenuous joint efforts by Budgam Police along with SDRF, River Police, administration and locals, the body of the drowned teen was traced and fished out near the spot where initial report of drowning was received.

The body is being handed over to the legal heirs and the search operation is being wound up, police said.
