Candidates rue delay by SSB in issuing teacher selection list

The candidates who have provisionally qualified for the teacher post in the school education department on Saturday accused the Service Selection Board (SSB) of delaying the final selection list of the candidates.

Scores of qualified candidates assembled in Srinagar press enclave and demanded issuance of the final selection list.

“This recruitment comes under fast track recruitment process as announced by government on basis of which the whole selection process was supposed to get completed within three to four months. But, around 11 months have passed since the recruitment notification was issued by the SSB,” the candidates said.

The candidates appealed the Governor for his personal intervention into the matter and expedite the process.

An official of the SSB said around 15 petitions have been filed in the High Court against the provisional selection list issued by the SSB following which Board was asked to consider the demands of the aggrieved candidates.

He said SSB has also received around 300 representations from candidates who could not afford to approach Court. “We have written to the General Administration Department (GAD) regarding the issue but are awaiting the advisory from them,” he said.

The provisional selection list of the candidates qualified in Science and Math subject was issued on June 26 followed by the provisional selection list of candidates selected as general line teachers on August 4.

Chairman SSB, Zubair Ahmad, said they don’t have to process only teacher selection list but are clearing the recruitment notifications issued prior to it.

“Things are in pipeline, candidates should not get an impression that SSB is not working on the list. We are at it,” he said.
