CASO in two Shopian villages ends

Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) carried out in two villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian district ended on Sunday.

A Police official said that columns of Army, CRPF and Police ring-fenced Keegam and Reshipora villages of the district and carried out door-to-door search operations.

The operations, according to the official, were conducted after the forces were tipped off about the presence of militants in these villages.

“Both the operations were called off later in the day after no militant was found in these villages,” said the official.

At least five villages in the district were searched during 48 hours.
