The Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation (CDR) has condemned the use of brute force against Kashmiris and has expressed concern over the recent developments taking place in the Valley.

In a joint statement here, Rajmohan Gandhi, Wajahat Habibullah, Syeda Hameed, Sushobha Barve and others said, "We are deeply distressed at recent developments in Kashmir and the consequent loss of life and suffering of grievously injured Kashmiri youth who constitute the future of the State and country."

They said, "CDR condemns the use of brute force in curbing dissent which has led to huge alienation in the valley. Violence perpetrated on our own youth negates and cancels all efforts at dialogue and reconciliation. We urge the Governments of India and of the state that every step be taken to restore the confidence of the people in government ensuring that the means used for the purpose are conducive to reconciliation."
