Inmates of Central Jail Srinagar on Wednesday suspended their strike following assurances by the district administration.
Sources said that Tehsildar Khanyar Abdul Rahman Dar who wasdeputed by the district administration met the inmates at the Central Jailfollowing which they suspended the strike.
The inmates went on strike after the April 5 violence insidethe highly guarded facility.
On Tuesday, family members of the inmates staged a protestat the Press Enclave in Srinagar and demanded that the cases registered againstthe prisoners over April 5 violence be withdrawn.
