Government forces on Sunday evening launched a Cordon and Serach Operation in Arihal area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police official said that army men of Rashtriya Rifles, SOG and paramilitary forces laid a seige around the Dangarpora, Arihal and started door to door search operation.
“There were the inputs of the presence of militants in the area” the official said.
He further said that as soon as forces started the search opeeation, scores of youth converged and pelted stones and bricks over the forces while the latter responded by resorting to tear smoke shelling.
District police chief Mohammad AslamChoudarysaid that some explosive material was recovered from a residential house during the search operation. He, however, said that the operation was concluded peacefully.
