The intense clashes erupted in Hajin town of Bandipora district after government forces launched cordon and search operation (CASO) on Thursday.
Police officials said soon after the forces cordoned off Bonkhan Mohalla at Hajin following the presence of militants in the area, people came out of their houses and attacked them with stones.
They said all the entry and exit points have been sealed to prevent militants from escaping the cordon laid by army’s 13 RR unit, CRPF’s 45 battalion and Special Operations Group (SOG) of JK police.
The door-to-door searches were going on in the area amid protests when this report was being filed.
