Clashes, pro-freedom protests on Eid day in parts of Kashmir valley
Clashes erupted on Eid day between protesters and government forces in several parts of Kashmir valley, including the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
In Srinagar, protesters clashed with government forces in Eidgah and Gaw Kadal areas.
The protesters hurled rocks on the forces who responded by firing tear smoke shells.
In Sopore, over a dozen protesters were injured during clashes with forces after Eid prayers. In nearby Palhallan area, youth staged protests after Eid prayers and clashed with forces near the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road.
Clashes were also reported from Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and other areas of south Kashmir on Monday.
Several persons were injured in clashes in Janglat Mandi a nd Achajipora areas of Anantnag town.
Earlier, pro-freedom demonstrations were held amid massive sloganeering after Eid prayers concluded at both Hanfia and Ahli Hadees Eidgahs in the town.
Banners of militants and slain Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani were raised in Eidgahs in Anantnag town.
