Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti will e-inaugurate PET Scan and digital subtraction angiography equipment of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) from SKICC here on Sunday.
Although a ceremony has been organized at SKIMS auditorium, CM, instead of the ceremonial ribbon cutting, will inaugurate the facilities by “clicking a button” from SKICC, officials said.
The CM will also throw open the endoscopy lab and new OPD counters at SKIMS; plus septic theater, a ward and a labour room at Trust Hospital of SKIMS. “These were ongoing projects for past few years,” said a senior official at SKIMS.
Doctors at SKIMS said that DSA would help diagnose and manage a number of diseases like tumor of kidney and lungs and vascular diseases. The equipment has been procured long back but was lying unused for want of a bunker.
Similarly, PET Scan was installed and commissioned last month and cancer patients had been waiting to avail this facility, in absence of which they had to spend huge amounts of money at hospitals outside the state.
At Trust Hospital, the addition of wards has been made as per instructions of medical council of India (MCI), doctors at the hospital said.
The inaugurations will coincide with commemoration of second death anniversary of former J&K CM, Mufti Mohammad Sayed.
