A court here denied bail to a non-local rape accused.
The accused, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, was booked under sections 366 (abduction), 376 (rape), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Ranbir Penal Code after the parents of the victim had filed a complaint in police station Srigufwara last year.
The complainants had alleged that the accused had abducted and raped their daughter.
The police after recovering the girl had taken the accused into custody and subsequently filed a charge sheet in the court of district and session judge Anantnag.
The case was later transferred to the fast track court of additional district judge, Anantnag.
The defence counsel in the bail application pleaded that the accused was not involved in the offences and has been falsely implicated.
"He is in the prison for last nine months and deserves bail," the counsel pleaded.
However, the prosecution argued that the accused deserved no leniency in the face of the nature of the crime committed by him.
"The accused is involved in a heinous crime which does not deserve any bail at this juncture," additional public prosecutor, advocate Syed Suhail Haqani, pleaded before the court.
After hearing the arguments of the parties, the court of additional district session judge rejected the bail application.
"Keeping in view the attending facts and circumstances of the case, the application is rejected at this stage," the court said.
