The district education authorities of Budgam have ordered closure of all educational institutions till March 31.
The decision comes days after the J&K government orderedsuspension of class work in all government and private Schools, Colleges andUniversities up to March 31, as a precautionary measure to avoid spread ofCoronavirus (COVID-19).
The Chief Education Officer(CEO) Budgam ordered that all government and private schools shall remain closein the wake of imposition of section 144 in the territorial jurisdiction ofBudgam.
“All educationalinstitutions from primary to higher secondary level shall remain closed tillMarch 31 due to the prevailing health situations in view of novel Coronavirusworldwide,” reads an order issued by the CEO.
All heads of the government and private schools have beenstrictly impressed upon to adhere to the order in letter and spirit.
“Any deviation of the ordershall be viewed seriously and action as warranted under relevant provisions oflaw shall be initiated against the defaulters,” the order reads.
Meanwhile, KashmirUniversity (KU) has notified all the research scholars in the departments,Research Centres, Satellite campuses that their attendance in the respectivedepartments or Centres shall not be mandatory.
“Theattendance shall be optional during the period the advisory remains in force,”reads a circular issued by Assistant Registrar Research, KU.
The circular comes two days after the varsity administrationpostponed all post graduation (PG) exams including internals, and directedstudents to vacate all hostels.
The decisions were taken following an advisory by thegovernment to suspend class work in the varsity.
“All teachers, supervisors and scholars are also advised tostrictly follow the social distancing measures in the laboratories, libraries,seminar rooms and other similar places,” reads the circular.
