COVID-19 | Police launch sensitisation drive for force

J&K Police have launched a drive to sensitize the force in the wake of Coronavirus (COVID-19) threat.

Earlier, the Police Department issued an advisory asking itsmen to take “extraordinary” precautions against the virus threat.

   

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir (Zone), Vijay Kumar,said senior police officers at district level were educating the personnelabout Coronavirus.

“We have already issuedadvisory,” he said, adding they were ready to help people in the emergingsituation.

Kumar said supervisory officers have been asked to visit thepolice stations under their jurisdiction daily and keep track in the wake ofthe virus threat. 

The police are also organising workshops at districtheadquarters to make its personnel aware about the deadly infection.

At Srinagar, it has cleaned police mess and barracks besidesbriefing its personnel about Coronavirus. “Our men in offices are wearingmasks,” SSP Srinagar, Haseeb Mughal said. “We brief them every morning.”

Earlier, on Saturday, anawareness/training session on precautionary measures for COVID-19 was held atDistrict Police Lines (DPL) Awantipora in Pulwama district.

“The session was held in the conference hall of DPL in whichthe officers and police personnel were briefed about Coronavirus by Dr MurtazaHussain, Medical Officer, SDH Pampore,” said SSP Awantipora, Tahir Saleem Khan.

The SSP said he has issued masks and sanitisers to almostall personnel. “We sent these products to police stations and other formationswhere from they were distributed,” he said.

The police health facilities in Kashmir and Jammu wereequipped to meet any challenge, said a senior official at PoliceHeadquarters.
