Srinagar, May 29: Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Pampore held its 33rd research advisory committee [RAC] meeting at Pampore to discuss various ongoing and new research programmes being conducted at the institute.
Chaired by Dr M Z Chishti, Professor Emeritus CSR&TI, the meeting was also attended by Dr M Yousuf, (Scientist-G, FRI Dehradun); Dr B N Ghosh, (Principal Scientist, ICAR Dehradun); Dr M A Khan, (ex-Director, CSB); Prof M A Malik, (Head TSRI, SKUAST-K, Mirgund); Prof Tahir Ali and Prof Gul Zafar (SKUAST-K, Srinagar) besides top sericulture scientists from the country.
According to a CSRTI spokesperson, Prof Chishti stressed upon formulation of more field oriented projects aiming towards addressing constraints faced by the Sericulture farmers. He emphasised the need for close coordination among scientists of CSB and SKUAST besides officers of Sericulture departments of northern states to ensure effective transfer of technology at field level.
Dr K A Sahaf, Director CSRTI Pampore, highlighted the research activities being carried out by the Institute and its nested units in Northern India. He further informed that new improved mulberry selections evolved by the scientists of CSRTI Pampore and silkworm hybrids are being taken up for field trials.
