CUK holds sensitization programme

,The Department of Education, School of Education, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), organised a one-day environmental sensitization programme here on Friday, a CUK spokesman said in a statement.

He said that all the in-service and pre-service B.Ed,trainees batch 2017-19 participated in this endeavor, which was supervised byfaculty members including Dr Gawhar Ahmad Bhat, Reyaz Ahmad Wani and Dr SunilGawande.

   

Inaugurating the programme, Dean, School of Education Dr SyedZahoor Ahmad Geelani emphasized the need of organizing such programmes. He saidthe importance of such activities increased manifold in the present scenario ofhighly polluted ecosystems.

Keeping in mind the curricular and training requirements ofB.Ed. Trainees and the potential role the teacher or the prospective teachercan play in developing the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes, towards theenvironmental issues, in her/his students, the environment education has beenmade compulsory part of the different courses of School of Education.

The programme startedwith observing various species belonging to plant kingdom, gushing andcrystal-clear running water streams, and, a fish farm for rearing the TroutFish at Laribal. The activities were followed by watching an environmentaldocumentary produced by Dachigam, Wildlife Research Division and directed by MAyoub Khan.

The students were alsotaken to Dachigam National Park and Mughal Gardens on Thursday, the spokesmansaid.
