Hurriyat (M) chairman and chief cleric of Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday hit out at the state government for what he said punishing people residing in Downtown Srinagar through curbs and restrictions.

Mirwaiz's remarks came after the government lifted curfew from parts of Downtown Srinagar after three days on Monday.

"Strongly denounce Govt for repeatedly putting downtown Srinagar under strict curfew & restrictions which is aimed to harass & punish the people residing in these areas for their support to the people's movement but they will fail as have their predecessors for the last 70 years!," tweeted Mirwaiz.
