CWC takes custody of abandoned girl child
The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Srinagar came to the rescue of an infant, who was abandoned on 19 March at SKIMS Medical College, Bemina.
The baby girl who is undergoing treatment at the hospitalwas left there by a man before he fled.
After 24 hours of her abandonment, the hospitaladministration had informed the police station concerned.
The custody of the baby was taken by the CWC, but she wasnot been shifted to the cradle home as the doctors haven't yet declared her fitenough to be taken out of the hospital.
On Friday police sought help of general public in tracingthe parents of the abandoned girl. The appeal for help came immediately afterthe photo of the baby went viral on the social media.
This is not the first time that a baby has been abandoned.
In January, a man from south Kashmir's Shopian district wasarrested after he was caught abandoning his newborn baby at Nowhatta area inthe Downtown here. Few days ago a still born baby was found outside thehospital entrance at Tral.
As reported by Greater Kashmir, last year an abandoned babywho was thrown at the backside of the LD hospital, was mauled by the dogs. Hehad to undergo surgery.
