The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg convened an interactive meeting with media persons of the district here on Friday.
The representative of the press forum briefed the DC aboutthe difficulties they face while covering events. They put forth the demand forestablishment of Press Club at district headquarter.
The DC assured the media persons that their genuine demandsincluding establishment of the Club will fulfilled on priority.
Hesaid, as a short term measure, a suitable building will be identified and usedas the Club.
TheDC asked media persons to come up with a concrete proposal for the Club,equipped with modern facilities.
During the meeting, the DCnominated Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad Lone as nodal officer forestablishment of the Club.
The DC said media was asignificant pillar in democracy for deliverance of transparent and accountablegovernance to people. He said district administration was always available forcoordination with people who were engaged directly or indirectly in promotingdevelopment and wellbeing of people.
On the demand of media persons, the DC dedicated onecomputer with internet connection to District Information Centre, to facilitatethe media persons.
Thepress forum, on the occasion framed a five member committee including tocoordinate with the nodal officer for further course of action.
Earlier, the DIO Kupwara briefed the DC about the workingpattern of information department and status of the building presently housedby the department.
He also said the department remains always on the forefrontin facilitating the media persons.
