To prevent panic buying of medicines, the district authorities here on Tuesday issued directions to wholesale dealers, stockists and drug retailers to dispense medicines used in prophylactic treatment of Covid-19 only on prescription of a qualified doctor.
These directions wereissued by District Magistrate, Pulwama, Raghav Langer while chairing a meetingwith the health officials , wholesale and retail drug dealers.
He said such directionswould prevent panic buying of medicines among public. He instructed the drugdealers, stockists and chemists that ample stocks of essential medicines shallbe to maintained and made available to the authorities whenever required.
He appealed people torefrain from self medication and irrational buying of medicines which wouldlead health hazard and harmful side effects. He directed Assistant ControllerDrug to ensure backup stocks of essential medicines.
The District Magistrateappealed traders and dealers to refrain from hoarding of essential supplies asin case of violation of essential commodities act, stringent action shall betaken as per relevant laws.
