An independent District Development Council (DDC) contesting candidate from Gurez along with her husband joined the Apni Party at its Srinagar office on Monday.
A statement of Apni Party issued here said that the independent candidate SurayaRafiq and her husband FerozIqbalWani are both known for their socio-political activities in the area. The statement said Apni Party President AltafBukhari while welcoming the new entrants into the party fold said that his party was determined to work indefatigably for equitable development in all regions and sub-regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
“I understand the unexplored potential of the Gurez valley. The nature has not only bestowed it with serene, picturesque surroundings but also made it resourceful for costly spices,” Bukhari said in the statement. “I along with my party colleagues pledge to work for the betterment of the lives of inhabitants of Gurez valley who have faced odds but never shied away from participating in the democratic processes.”
On the occasion, the new entrants pledged to work untiringly for strengthening the party and pledged to extend full cooperation in getting people rid of the miseries in Gurez.
