Decision shocking: Sehrai

Chairman of Muslim Conference Shabir Ahmed Dar alsocondemned imposition of ban on Jamaat-e- Islami and termed it ‘unethical,undemocratic and unwarranted’.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on Fridaycondemned the government’s decision to impose ban on Jamaat-e-Islami.

   

In a statement Sehrai termed the ban as “highly condemnable and shocking.” “The saidorganisation is the most vibrant and known for its socio religious andhumanitarian work across the J&K. Jammat-e- Islami has done clossal amountof social ,humanitarian and religious work since its formation .Thisorganisation is working for the poor and needy since decades and carried outvarious activities including relief and rehabilitation work. Banning this organisationis unethical and coercive measures.”

 He said that “ineducation sector only Jamaat-e-Islami has a tremendous contribution and theschools running under Jamaat are giving exceptional and modern education to thepoor people. Apart from this Jamaat-e-Islami run schools also provideemployment opportunities to thousands of people. He said this organisation isnot only a religious organization but had been working mostly for the cause ofhumanity.”

Chairman of Muslim Conference Shabir Ahmed Dar also condemnedimposition of ban on Jamaat-e- Islami and termed it ‘unethical ,undemocratic and unwarranted’.

In a statement Dar denounced the arrest political andreligious  leaders and activists,demanding their immediate release .

He also termed the release of IAF pilot by the Pakistangovernment as a peace gesture.

Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement  Zaffar Akbar Bhat  also welcomed decision of Pakistan governmentto release the IAF pilot as a good will gesture

Meanwhile, militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) alsocondemned the ban imposed on Jamat-e-Islami in Jammu Kashmir.

 In an e-mailedstatement to KNS, LeT Chief Dr Abdullah Ghaznawi while quoting LeT chiefMahmood Shah  said,” Delhi is referringto Geneva convention on the status of release of Abhinandan. On the other handHurriyat leaders are in jails they should also be released as they have notcommitted any war crime. Why is it that the daughter of Kashmir Aasiya Andarabiis held captive in Tihar jail?”
