Defunct ATM irks Tral residents

The defunct ATM at Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is causing inconvenience to the people in the area.

Locals said State Bank of India (SBI) ATM located at Tral is lying defunct from a long time. They said despite repeated requests to the bank authorities, no steps have been taken to improve its functioning.

“We are unable to draw money from the ATM, as it remains defunct for most of the time,” said Gulzar Ahmed Dar, a local.

Dar added people have to travel all the way to Awantipora from Tral to withdraw money from ATM there.

The people have appealed higher authorities of SBI bank to look into the matter on urgent basis.

The SBI bank official at Tral branch passed the buck saying: “ATMs of the bank are taken care by some private firm and it is their domain to rectify it”.
