‘Deposit weapons in police stations’

In view of the upcoming urban local bodies’ elections in Baramulla on October 8, the District Magistrate Baramulla has issued an order directing all the civilians and retired forces personnel possessing arms to deposit them at their respective police stations within a period of five days.

In view of the upcoming urban local bodies' elections in Baramulla on October 8, the District Magistrate Baramulla has issued an order directing all the civilians and retired forces personnel possessing arms to deposit them at their respective police stations within a period of five days. 

"The order has been issued to ensure smooth conduct of Municipal and Panchayat elections scheduled to be held across the state from October 8" reads an order issued by the district magistrate Baramulla. 

The elections to 2 municipal corporations, 3 municipal councils and 72 municipal committees in the state will be held from 8 to 16 October. For Baramulla district, these elections will be held for two Municipal councils and 46 Municipal committees with 91,632 total electors.
