Director General of Police, Dr S P Vaid has granted scholarship of Rs. 3.8 lakh in favour of 60 wards of policemen who died while discharging their duties, a police spokesman said in a statement.
He said the scholarships have been granted out of Central Welfare fund and Central Police Education Fund for the academic year 2017-2018.
"Rs 2.46 lakhs have been sanctioned in favour of 32 wards of policemen, who died in different militancy related incidents in the state. These wards include 23 students of primary and higher secondary level, 6 of under graduation classes and 3 students of post graduation/ professional courses," the spokesman added.
