Dilawar, Yawar Mir welcome reservation to Pahari community

Former minister Muhammad Dilawar Mir and former MLA Rafiabad Yawar Dilawar Mir have welcomed the decision of the Governor’s administration to provide three per cent reservation to the Pahari community.

In a joint statement issued here, the two leaders termed the government pronouncement a ‘historic decision’ that is aimed at socio-economic and educational empowerment of Pahari community in the state. “This is a landmark decision taken by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik. We appreciate and welcome this decision of far reaching results for the upliftment of Pahari community,” they observed.

The two leaders said the Pahari community was neglected in terms of improvement in its social status and they had often raised their voice for redressal of their long pending demand.

“But as they say, it is late than never. The reservation granted to this community by giving assent to the J&K Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2014 providing reservation to Pahari community in government jobs, the Governor has fulfilled a long pending demand of this community,” they said.
