The Jammu and Kashmir government Saturday extended the term of Director SKIMS and ex-officio Secretary to government, Dr A G Ahangar till December 31 this year “in view of the situation arising due to COVID-19”.
An order issued by Secretary GAD, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi while confirming the development however said that Dr Ahangar “will not look after the issues related to
procurement and appointments in the Institute, which shall be looked
after by a Committee to be constituted by the Government”.
Dr Ahangar’s term ended yesterday on June 25. He was first appointed to the post in June 2016.
In 2018, the incumbent SKIMS Director’s term was marred by controversy after the government first attached him in January that year and then suspended him the very next month.
He was reinstated by the government a few months later.
