Doctor among three arrested for alleged drug trafficking in Pulwama: report

Srinagar Dec 4: A doctor is among three people arrested by police for alleged drug trafficking in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a report said.

Quoting sources, news agency CNS reported that the doctor, a resident of new colony Pulwama and posted at Zainapora hospital of Shopian district as a gynecologist was arrested along with two more men around two weeks ago in a drug peddling case by Pulwama police.

   

Drugs worth millions of rupees were recovered from the trio’s possession, the CNS report.

SSP Pulwama Ghulam Jeelani Wani told CNS that a SIT headed by DSP headquarters has been constituted in this case and more arrests are expected.

The SSP further said that the “priority of the police is to curb drug dealers instead of drug users”. Jeelani termed the performance of Pulwama police team as the “best professional policing” and said that he would do his best to provide a drug free environment to the youth.

A case under FIR 302/21 has been refisrereet in this regard and further investigation has been initiated.
