Don’t pressurize parents to submit fee: Govt warns Pvt schools in Jammu

The authorities in Jammu and Udhampur districts have warned private schools of strict action against for pressurizing parents to clear pending fee of the students and forcing them to purchase uniform and other items from a selected shop.

“All private schools affiliated to JKBOSE, CBSE, ICSE or anyother functioning in district Jammu are directed not to pressurize students ortheir parents to deposit school fee till April 30,” reads an order issued byChief Education Officer (CEO) Jammu.

   

The schools have been also directed not to charge the annualschool fee till further directions from the administrative department.

“This order is issued in the interest of public at large andstudents and their parents in particular keeping in view the completenationwide lockdown to avoid spread of COVID 19,” the order read, adding thatany violation of the order by any school shall be viewed seriously and warrantstern action under rules.

In Udhampur district, the management of various privateschools was pressurizing the parents to change the uniform of their kids andpurchase the same from a particular shop which is in violation of thegovernment order.

In wake of this, the district administration Udhampur haswarned the private schools from “fleecing” parents and pressurizing them byresorting to such ill practices.

“We have many other issues at hand presently. I urge theprivate schools to cooperate and behave responsibly in the ambit of governmentdirection and in the interest of public. Strict action shall follow otherwise,”tweeted deputy commissioner Udhampur, PiyushSinghla.

Also, a circular has been issued by the CEO Udhampur in thisregard and has directed the private schools to refrain from doing suchpractices.

“The matter has been viewed seriously for violating theorders of the higher authorities. As such all the heads of private institutionsfunctioning in the direct are directed to stop these things forth with andcomply with the orders and instructions of the higher authorities,” reads acircular issued by CEO Udhampur.

It has warned schools of action in case of any violation, isreported in this regard from any quarter.

“The matter will be referred to the Directorate of SchoolEducation, Jammu for initiating stern action against the erring heads of theprivate educational institutions and their name will be disclosed before theauthorities concerned,” read the circular.
