Dy Speaker Gurezi reviews work on power projects in Gurez

The deputy speaker and MLA Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi today convened a meeting to take stock of functioning and developmental activities being carried out by Power Development Department including construction of transmission line of Bandipora, Gurez and Tulail. 

The meeting was attended by minister for power development Sunil Kumar Sharma, commissioner/secretary PDD Hridesh Kumar, development Commissioner Power Asgar Ali Majaz, chief engineer M&RE Shahnaz Goni, chief engineer projects PDD Diljeet Singh, executive engineer STD Ganderbal Aftab Ahmed, director P&S Rakesh Jamwal, chief engineer PDC Fayaz Andrabi, chief engineer S&O Muzaffar Ahmad Kashmir besides other officials from aforementioned departments. 

   

On the occasion the deputy speaker raised the issues related to power scenario in Gurez and about the pace of work of transmission line connecting Bandipora to Gurez and Gurez to Tulail under different schemes including DDUGJY to electrify the hamlets of the area. 

The meeting was informed that the part Ist of the project, 66km’s long Bandipora to Gurez line has been approved while Gurez to Tulail line is yet to get approval. The concerned MLA was assured by Minister for Power Development Sunil Kumar Sharma that they will get the approval for the part 2 shortly and work on the project will be started immediately and completed on war footing basis. 

Gurezi asked the minister to ensure that these power lines are laid underground at Razdan portion to prevent electricity breakdown during winters so that the people of these remote areas could be benefitted. The Deputy Speaker sought the progress of setting up of Receiving Station in Gurez for which tentative dates for laying foundation stone was proposed on May 25; he also demanded an Electric Special Subdivision in Gurez for which framing of proposal was sought from the concerned authorities besides posting of Assistant Engineer to Gurez. He enquired upon the status of work on PDC’s 17 MW Markoot Power Project and was informed that Pre Feasibility Report (PFR) for 17 MW was already envisaged and that the work on it will be started soon. The Minister for Power Development on the occasion directed PDD authorities to maintain bar-chart so that the pace of works going on in this far off place can be monitored on regular basis so that they get completed within stipulated time. Gurezi raised the issue of defunct Genset in Budigam and demanded that the same may be replaced soon to ensure power supply to locals in this holy month of Ramadan.
