Encroachments, illegal parking choke SDH Pampore road

The narrow road outside SDH Pampore at Kadalbal remains choked with traffic that hardly leaves any room for hospital ambulance or a private vehicle ferrying patients to the hospital. “The road network here is below par. Though the traffic has increased manifold but the road remains the same,” a local said.

According to local residents Kadalbal road is the busiest road of the town. It not only connects with SDH Pampore but also connects with Government Boys Higher Secondary School Pampore, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Pampore, Fire and Emergency department and various private schools besides court and police station.

Sabzar Ahmed, who lives in the area, says that parents fear for the safety of their children going to school because of the increased vehicular movement on the narrow road. The area, according to Ahmed, has witnessed dozens of deadly road accidents but administration shows complete negligence.

“This road is witnessing frequent traffic jams and congestion every day. It is even difficult for the patients to walk through the narrow roads not to speak of the vehicles. Not a single day passes when we do not see the traffic mess at SDH Pampore putting the patients as well as students, commuters to inconvenience,” said another local Bashir Ahmed.

The government and district administration should immediately expand this road to give people a respite, locals demanded. Mohammad Younis Bangroo, tehsildar of Pampore, told Greater Kashmir that he will act quickly to ensure the hassle free movement on this road. “This issue will be resolved in coming days,” Younis assured.
