Ensure all facilities to people during Ramadhan: NC to admin

National Conference on Wednesday asked J&K administration to take effective measures to keep food supply chain operative, check panic buying and hoarding to avoid difficulties to people during the auspicious month of Ramadhan.

Impressing upon administration their obligation to ensure price stability and availability of essentials to people, the party’s MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi said the holy month was about to set in and come Ramadhan, requirement of all edibles increases exponentially.

   

“There are various edibles which people prefer having duringthe auspicious month. The present circumstances have dampened the fervor andthe non-availability of various kitchen condiments, edibles, and householdcommodities has hit J&K. People are purchasing essentials at exorbitantprices due to the inconsiderate approach of the government towards rampanthoarding and panic buying. The situation is more awful in those areas as havebeen classified as red and buffers zones,” said the MPs.

Asking the government to rise up to the exigencies the partyMPs said in view of the challenges the government should come to the rescue ofpeople and provide additional ration to them at subsidized rates.

They said government should increase quota of sugar toconsumers during the ensuing month. Besides, they said, the that administrationshould also mull to come up with e-bazaars, special rapid action teams for homedelivery to ensure people were delivered necessary items at their doorsteps.

The MPs also sought uninterrupted power and water supply toconsumers during Iftaari and Sahari time.

The duo asked people to abide by COVID19 protocol and thegovernment advisories in the ensuing month saying the challenges can besurmounted if people keep inside and take precautionary measures as advised bythe government.
